South Quay 2008

Two great bits of news rounded off the first year of trading at South Quay, the new market and meeting place in the heart of Whitstable Harbour. Firstly, Canterbury City Council officially rejected all three of the large scale development proposals submitted for the South Quay, in Whitstable Harbour. The market wil not be replaced by Tesco' least for the time being.

Secondly, our plans to upgrade the site and introduce new fishermen's huts was approved. The path is now clear to try and develop our beautiful site on the Kent coast into what some have called "Covent Garden by Sea"; a truly vibrant market and visitor destination based on local products, local business and local people.
